Identify Mercury 40 help

Hi, can someone tell me the model / year / hp for the serial number 9188828 (Australia)
It does say mercury 40 on the cowling.

You mentioned 40 HP above not 4 HP? If it's a 4 HP then that should be a whole different set of numbers to look at in the chart vs the 40 HP posted above.

Might be best to try and post a photo of the engine to try and help better.

He said Mercury 40. Prior to 1979 Mercury added a Zero to the horsepower so a 4hp was called a Mercury 40.
