Need to repower my Mariner and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or knew the best size motor for this boat. Does it require a 20" shaft or will a 25" work? Thanks

Depending on what your Mariner measures, determines the length of motor you can drop on w no modifications.

The # of unsatisfactory results posted is much higher then the # of successful modifications to accomodate an 'incorrect' length motor

According to the 1986 brochure the MR180 takes a long shaft up to 120HP.

You are gonna run into performance issues with a 25" motor.

You need a 20".

Or a $300 jack plate and a 25".

I'm running a 115 hp, but you could easily use a 90 hp with the right prop.

+1...are you going to repower new or used, 2str or 4str, what brand?

2 stroke more than likely--not sure what brand as I'm keeping options open for best deal. I know I would like to stay between 90-115 hp
