I have a 19' Bayliner Deckboat with 3.0 Merch. Had it winterized last Fall and took it out for 1st time yesterday. Had it run for about 10 minutes and my feet were getting yet..and had to get it off the water fast. Barely got it on trailer on my drain plug was in, when I pulled it out, it drained water solid for about 25 minutes. Also, when on trailer I look for any other place water coming out, and saw nothing. Also, water seems to only come in when the engine was running, but could be wrong.

Somehow water was getting in, any thoughts?

Also, as a separate issue the electrical to my bilge wasn't working, therefore all this water coming in was not being ejected. That can be fixed buy I'm stumped how water was getting in the first place.

Spent some time looking when on trailer and nothing. That is why it leads me to think it was coming in through engine. And water seemed to come in more when engine was running.

This is why you should always fire your motor up in the driveway on muffs and check everything out before starting your boating season. And that is also the answer to finding where the water is coming from. Hook up your muffs and run the motor with the plug out. Look around. Could be a core plug, a split hose or oil cooler, cracked block, broken exhaust Y pipe.

I pretty much always fire my motor up in the driveway before trailering to the lake. The wrong time to find something is wrong is on the water. And my drive is far enough that I value knowing it isn't a wasted trip enough. to spend the 15 minutes checking everything out first.

If it doesn't show up in the driveway on muffs, then put the plug in and back down the boat ramp and fire it up while on the trailer on the ramp. Use your phone camera if needed to get pictures/video of the rear of the motor and the transom plate where you can't get your mark I eyeballs in to see.

Did you put the plugs back in the block and manifolds after winterization?

Was it winterized correctly, did a core plug pop out, did the block or manifold crack. It shouldn`t be that hard to spot.

It sounds like you had someone winterize if for you... there is also a de-winterization process, which is basically put the plugs back in and reattach the hoses. I'm betting that wasn't done. Both winterization and de-winterization are fairly easy to do, so read up on here and do it yourself and save some $$$

if that is the case, then there was no cooling water to the head or exhaust. so the exhaust tube and the flappers are toast

Found out the issue, after winterizing, the mechanics forgot to re-hook up a couple of hoses. Hopefully this helps out someone else. thanks

Arminius....
Hate to be a bore, but you really need to be looking at the engine each time you start her up....especially the first time.
It's great practice to do so and can be the difference between a great day out on the boat and the worst day ever.
You don't need to be a mechanical genius to do so...just simple and quick visual once over, dip the oil, check the fittings etc.
In this case, you would have spotted this in seconds. It's so easy to do, especially in a boat like yours.

All the best.
