Not a question, just a prop comment.

A pal just bought a brand spanking new 90HP Honda 4 stroke and had it rigged by the Marina he bought it from. This is a 75 year old fanatic that fishes any open water all winter at least 2 days a week in winter and 5 days a week minimum in the other 3 seasons, some weekends. It took them 5 weeks to get the new outboard in and mounted. Something like 17,000 hours on his old 115 HP 2 stroke Johnson. He paid over $12000.00 CDN for it. He goes to pick it up all ready to hit the water that morning then and there and there isn't a prop on it. Props are optional he's told. $500.00 and a week later his prop is in. I would have lost it. I understand that there are preferences for props to do different things but why not tell him before he plopped down his hard earned pension earnings it doesn't include a propeller. Is this standard now? Oops, that a question.

Props are usually optional on larger motors. However, the dealer should have one on hand, or should order one when the motor is ordered. I do not see how it makes sense any other way.

I think the dealer is a moron, or has someone working for him, and he did not check on that moron. JMO

I just read the Canadian Honda website. It clearly states props are not included. I'll give him a pass being 75, but they should have asked him what prop? This Marina is notorious for not carrying inventory of parts. He does love the Honda though. You can not hear it running.

I understand why a prop isn't on the motor because of all the variables to match the motor to the boat. But there should be a range of standard props in various diameters and pitches included with the motor purchase. So when you choose the motor, you also choose a prop from Column B with guidance of the dealer.

With no included prop, it's like buying a car and finding the steering wheel is an extra cost item.

When i bought my 60 etec the dealer included a prop of my choosing and if we guessed wrong another one.Took off my old motor inatalled new and rigging for free.Heck he even found a buyer for my old 90 .You would of thought they would of given him a freebe after 12 grand!

Yep, dealer wanted to sell that medium pitched prop that came with OB or give the option to choose one for free as a prop starter. It's like buying a car without tires. Dealer should have said new OB's comes without a prop right from the very beginning. Shame on opportunist dealer..LOL!!

Thats what my dealer said basically.What good is an outboard without a prop ,of course your getting a prop .
