Bearings have to be fitted on the dowels in the block !----From where I sit it sounds like you need to take it apart again.

Yep... as "racerone" above suspects, you goofed (it happens). The larger portion of the block/crankcase (cylinders etc) has locating dowels in the main bearing seating areas (Top, Center, Lower M/bearing) whereas a machined hole in the bearings must be fitted/seated into those dowels... otherwise the dowels are pressed deeper into the crankcase... the bearing are free to spin and they will change their height location.

Unfortunately, that mistake requires one to dismantle the engine, have the dowels drilled out and new ones installed.

I will have to take it apart and look at it. I get where the two of you are coming from on the bearing pins and I don't remember off hand, but I will look at that. My only last question, is there anything else I should look at that could cause this type of problem that I haven't already addressed?
