Upgraded my exhaust on my 5.0 MPI now I have no water flowing out the exhaust tips.

I upgraded my manifolds to EMI thunder exhaust on my Baja 202 Islander. I have the Corsa Quick and Quiet thru hull with the "Y" that sends some thru the drive. After I installed the EMI manifolds I have plenty of water flowing out the drive but have none coming out the exhaust tips as I did before. I am thinking I made need to do some modifications and possibly change the rubber boot where the riser goes into the "Y". With the new exhaust the riser are stainless high flow and the boot may be restricting some of the water from passing the "Y' and going out the tip. The boot has a lip on it in the middle that I believe meets right where the water comes out of the riser. Anyone have any insight or had this problem? Is water not coming out the tips a real problem? I feel the tips were getting hotter than they should and I am concerned that when I take it out and really run it, they will get hotter. Help please?

I don't think you have a problem. Water travels the path of least resistance so it will fall down before it crosses the opening and go out the tips. On high rpm runs some water will come out due to the velocity of the exhaust.

I use to have the same setup on my 502

And it didn't get hot? Mine seemed as if it was getting pretty hot from the "Y" back. I even started smelling the rubber boot heat up. Just worried me that it would get hotter when running at speed.

My 99 350 mag mpi has the corsa quick and quiet II and it seems to put almost 50% of the water out of the through Hull tips at idle and they are cool to the touch while level on the trailer on muffs. Is it possible your bow is down in a slopeing driveway while you were testing it? I would bring a temperature gun and see if it works properly and the tips stay cool while level on the water.

If your smelling burnt rubber it is getting to hot. Now it does get hotter on muffs then it does on the water, just depends on how much water the garden hose puts out.

You are seeing plenty of water coming out the prop and transom, right?

Its was not sloping in the front but on my elevated driveway that puts it nose up.

I fixed the problem. Took the risers off and cut the Corsa "Y's" down a little more. Then I cut the lip on the boot connecting the two as well as fabricate a thin piece of sheet metal that helped direct the water out the tips instead of the path of least resistence being the "Y" going to the drive and prop. I now have equal amounts coming out of each discharge. All is well.
