I'm looking for a flushing device for my 1990 Johnson 8 HP. It's got that weird water inlet tube with a screen that is viewable above and below the cavitation plate. I don't even know if there IS a flushing device/kit for this style of water inlet for this motor. Anybody know? Got any part numbers/sources?

Yeah, that's what I've been doing (using a bucket or a garbage can), but I want to flush this motor with Salt Terminator. I got the proportioner that you hook up in-line with your hose and muffs, but obviously that can't be used since you really can't put muffs (not the regular kind anyway) on this motor. I really thought that there might be some kind of after market flushing device that I could use.

None that I'm aware of. Not much room between the prop and the intake as it is. Might be able to mix some of your elixir in the bucket to have it do what you want.

Just add the Salt Terminator to the water in the bucket/barrel in the ratio 1 part in 32 parts water ( 4 ozs per US gallon), or about 3%, then you can flush to your heart's content without wasting most of it on the ground..

You only need the " proportioner" when you cannot use a bucket or barrel and have to use muffs

Chinewalker and Vic S. thank you both for your thoughts I thought about that too, but don't want to waste too much of that Salt Terminator solution. But, I didn't realize that the mix ratio of water to solution is only 32:1 so even the smaller container of that stuff that I got (that came with the proportioner) should last a while. Have either of you ever heard of flushing out with a white vinegar and water solution? I've seen some Utube videos and people seem to think it gets the corrosion out pretty good. Any thoughts on that?
