Reinstalling distributor 4.3 mercruiser

Hi guys quick question I have it pull my intake manifold off.
Just wondering how you go about reinstalling the distributor ? On my 1990 4.3 merch.
If I'm not replacing it just literally taking it off and moving it out of the way and reusing the same one.
Can I just do that? Take it off move it out off the way and put it right back on?
Do I have to go through the procedure of getting the cylinder to top dead center and aligning the harmonic blancer and all that ? I would much prefer to just take it off and put it right back on hahaha but if I have to do more I will.

If you mark the distributor body and rotor position and don't rotate the motor you can put it back into place and carry on.

You still have to set the timing with a light when reinstalled. But aiming the rotor back where it started will make it so you don't have to set up at #1 TDC.
