Ok, bought this boat to restore and make into a open fisherman. it already has the offshore extension on it going trough the transom and onto the stringers. I have a 90 horse long shaft engine for it and looks to be too long. I've looked for a short shaft but non to be found at this point so my next option it to add a jack plate to lift the motor up. Is there a issue i should consider when doing this? The motor I have is fresh rebuild that I did and runs great. I have tried to find a short shaft lower end but with no luck so this is my next option. I do have time to keep looking for a short shaft as we are in the beginning stages of tearing it apart to repair the flooring, extract the tank and either repair it or replace it ( It's Aluminum 40 gal.), and add a center console. thinking of adding a below the floor bait well while I'm in there. any pointers and advice would be greatly appreciated.

They wouldn't set it for a short shaft unless it originally had a much smaller motor on it, or they just had no clue as to how to set it up.

Post a pic so we can see what you're working with.

Putting on a jack plate isn't an issue though.

Originally, it had a 4clyinder in-bouard o/d and the took it out and added the extension while rebuilding the transom. the guy i bought it from had a 90 hsp Evinrude on it and that's what i have to put back on it. He said the 90 pushed it without any problems and would run about 30 mph.
