hello,.
months ago i had posted that i had a transom sesl leak. which i do. marina told me in order to make sure it lasts that he needs to fix transom wood as well. well. edti.ate came i at 3125. and insurance says im about 400 below my coverage limits and they are totaling it out because of the 9,000 claim last year for hitting rock and tesring uo lower unit. so they dont want to take a chance of any more hidden cost. so u get yo keep the boat and they are paying me out 3800.0. question is since i live in Illinois dies it wirk like a car and now im gonna have a salvage title? even though im going through with it and getting repairs fixed? state fatm is requiring me to fax a copy of title to them..im just wondering what isdues i might have if i decide to sell it or trade it.. will i have issues trying to insure it with another company as now its only gonna be covered for liability only.

Thanks.,
robert

Ask State Farm since they are the ones totaling the boat. While you have them on the phone, ask about liability insurance with whatever type of title you'll end up with.

If they are totaling your boat to prevent further losses on it, I think it a safe bet you'll be looking somewhere different for a policy on that boat once repaired....

They will not stamp the title salvage. They want to see the title to verify all owners and any liens that might be present. Given the claim history, they will probably choose not to stay on that policy.
