Hey guys, I am in the keys at my friends place. Low on tools and low on manuals. Let me run some stuff by you all and shoot me some ideas.
06 merc opti 150hp. Salty dog. Survived Irma and has ran fine since.
had a low idle miss and surging between 900 and 1300 rpms. It's a gradual surge ramping up and down within that range. Maybe 20 second dwell time to go from 900 to 1300 and back to 900.
replaced plugs and fuel filters. Verified the airfilter and lid were good and clear. Verified good spark. Verified good and even compression. This solved fhe miss, still have the surge. Air pressure on the rail was the needle bounced between 72 and 77. I am using a actron gauge as I did not bring tools down with me. Fuel pressure on the rail was varied 80-94 when at 900 rpm and 82-96 when at 1300 rpm. Again the needle rapidly bounces.
I don't have a manual with me but I think I am supposed to be within 10 psi fuel and air, correct?
any suggestions? Pressure regulator, hp pump, trap valve or whatever its called that tries to keep the air and fuel pressure close? Still has good power and pulls well.
