Fuel pump part number

1995 Johnson ocean runner 150 J150EXEOM Looking to delete the vro option on my motor. what would be the correct part number needed to do this? Do I just buy a regular fuel pump or is there a conversion kit?

The VRO can be used as a fuel pump.----You block off the oil supply.----Pull wiring plug.-----Is the fuel pump not working ??----What is the motor doing / not doing ?

If the fuel side of the pump is working there is no need to replace it. Disconnect the oil line from the motor and plug the fitting on the motor. Then unplug the pump harness and and oil tank sensor and Remove the oil tank from the boat. You are now finished you can now run your motor on 50-1 pre-mix.

Everything is working great the fuel pump the oiling system ect. I just had people tell me I need to get rid of the vro system as it will stop working and blow up the motor and go to pre-mix. I don't want to have to replace the motor way to expensive.

Why not learn in detail how the VRO works.-----Accept the fact that this unit is easy to take apart and inspect.-----It does have a " no oil alarm "and learn how to test that.----Learn how to do a oil out put test too.-----Some would argue with how easy this is.

I personally like my VRO system. When they fail they tend to over oil the motor not lean it out. The vro system is the scapegoat for a lot of problems that they were not responsible for. Remember this more motors have been destroyed by people forgetting to mix the fuel mix. Learn how to maintain your vro system and enjoy you boating time.

I'd be willing to bet that not one of those people telling you that has ever owned a motor with the vro system. My 94 175 is still running fine with the vro pump.

Both the OP's and yours are VRO2 anyway ... in fact I believe called OMS from 1993 onwards.

It was the original VRO introduced in 1984 that caused all the problems and got the system a bad name.

if you can have the confidence in the oiling system and take the effort to learn the alarms and how things can go south like racer said..... then you KNOW life will be a LOT easier than trying to mix your oil with the gas as you pump it..... I do it now and man would i love to NOT do it.....out there on cold dark mornings getting the funnel and the oil and guessing what ill need for gas and putting that much oil in first( so the gas can wash it down into the tank) and then doing it again....when i think the tank will take more gas....... maintain the oil level alarm and the oil flow alarm..... although Ive had alarms go off on my motors when nothing was wrong......so...its a confidence factor for believing the alarm, or lack thereof!
