OMC/BRP "Hi Vis".

Replace the fill/drain plug seals also!

Hi-Vis Gearcase Lubricant for Johnson/Evinrude/OMC

Hi-Vis® gear case lubricant is an exceptional heavy duty gearcase oil. It offers high film strength and protection in wet environments in 1989 and earlier V4 and smaller Evinrude® and Johnson® outboards that specify Hi-Vis®.

Features:
  • High Film Strength: Reduces friction and wear, under normal and heavy shock load conditions
  • Thermal Stability: Gear oil life is extended; sludge and gum accumulation are reduced
  • Rust Inhibitor: Prevents the accumulation of rust in wet gear environments

Hi-Vis or any other reputable brand of 80W-90 outboard gear oil.

Capacity 25.4 ounces

If the seals are good the old oil should be "clear and bright"

"Lower unit oil" is the key, it has additives to deal with water intrusion that regular gear oil doesn't.

Can't over fill, just put it in till it comes out the top hole, put the top plug in then the bottom.

some will drip while you are getting the bottom plug in but not an issue.

Also watch it as it drains for metal shavings, if it is a milky color there is water and you need a seal.

Sure, it will work just fine. "Hi-Vis" is an OMC/BRP trademark name.

Quicksilver is a reputable brand name.

The "high performance" oil in your picture is recommended for higher powered engines,( more than 70HP) rather than the "premium" grade.
