Due to unforeseen circumstances, the serpentine belt on my dandy little 2007 Stingray 195FX (with Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-E) broke while the engine was running. The free end of the belt whipped around and snatched the sea-water pump-to-thermostat housing hose off and wrapped it (and the belt) around the crankshaft pulley.

Fortunately, this occurred in my back yard with the boat on the trailer. No problem, I can get the belt at any good parts store, and I'll simply order another hose.

Yeah... no. The engine has been out of production since 2010, and the supply of spare parts is drying up. I couldn't find the hose (Volvo Penta part number 3817814) anywhere, and the aftermarket hasn't caught up.

Item 12 in this diagram...

The bottom end of the hose is one-inch, and reduces quickly to 3/4-inch.

Time to fabricate something.

The one-inch section of hose at the sea-water pump end is a Dayco 86054, available from Summit Racing. No trimming required... Link

This section is then reduced to 3/4-inch with a 1-inch to 3/4-inch brass barb splicer, part number 129-16-12 available from MettleAir.com... Link

Next up the line are two Dayco 80412 hoses, 3/4-inch inside diameter, also available from Summit Racing... Link

I trimmed one inch from the lower part of the bottom 3/4-inch hose where it connects to the reducing splicer, and total of five inches from the long straight portions. Connecting these two hoses is a 3/4-inch brass barb splicer part number 129-12 from MettleAir.com... Link

The finished product, sans hose clamps. Ripped-up original hose on top. It won't win an award at a concours d'elegance show, but it will get my happy little bote back in the water.

Cheers.

You could have simply looked up the gates molded hose guide and got one that fit just fine. However that hose is the same as mercruiser hose

Hose 3817814 is available on many websites for about $32

Nice work! a 2007 is not old to me! I've been able to get certain V/P parts for my OMC that are not available any longer (cooling hose, center riser exhaust manifolds/elbows).

That's not it.

Oh yeah, it's listed all over the place. But after ordering you get "whoops, so sorry" emails.

I like how you used those adapters to allow for the different hose diameters, if I needed a new raw water intake hose for my Cobra that's what I'd have to do. I have a spare but good to know how to make it up.
