So I have been working on a Starcraft TR-150. It’s been a fun project and just plug along when I can. Currently I’m glassing in stringers. My question for the experts is how much foam should this boat have in it, or how much would you put in. It didn’t have rear foam boxes, and when I tore it down there was just a little foam on the outsides of the outside stringers. This particular boat didn’t have bulkheads either just laterals for the decking. I plan to seal this off because I don’t want stuff floating under my deck. Do you think I should foam on either side of the center stringer? Would this be an overkill?

Here is where I am now. Just trying to plan for further down the road. Been lurking on site for a few years. The knowledge is unbelievable.

As much foam as you can get. It makes the boat stronger quieter and float when swamped. Nothing but good.

Ayuh,..... This, ^^^ is a Bad idea,.....

There's no such thing as a sealed dry compartment in a boat,.....
Water will seep in somewhere, at sometime,.....

All compartments should be self-drainin' with limber holes,....

In yer case, you could pack the entire under deck area with pool-noodles, which will drain, 'n not hold water like other foams,....

Pool noodle foam breaks down faster than flotation foam

Thank you for the responses. I have watched jmink drainage system on YouTube and thought something like that would work for me. So I plan on having a sort of drainage because I realize it is near impossible to completely seal it.
