Sorry for the rookie question but that what I am at this point. Just picked up 1996 Four Winns Candia 214. The engine is a Volvo Penta with a model number 50FAPNCA and serial number T01290300. My question is I have a Clymer manual but I'm not sure if the engine is a FL/DP, FL/SX, Fi/DP etc. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Throw the clymer manual away and get a factory manual

FL is Ford carbed. Fi is Ford fuel injected. The DP is duoprop drive, SX is single prop. Pretty sure the "50" in the 50FAPNCA means 5.0 litre. Just by way of IDing the actual engine, Ford distributors are in the front, GM's at the back. Yours should be at the front based on the numbers you gave.

Thanks for the tips on the manuals. I have not broken the plastic on this one so will look at sending it back. And thanks for the breakdown on the letters too!
