Title says it all really. I’m trying to restore my grandpas old boat, maybe even before he passes away, and I’m completely new to this. Functionally, the boat is in great shape. No leaks, dents, or any mechanical issues. Mostly looking at cosmetic repairs on the exterior with some (mahogany?) trim and some old metal trim. The metal hooks and hood ornaments still have a decent shine. Plexiglass windshield is cracked and needs to be replaced. We believe it is from the 50s but its so poorly documented... will take some pictures soon but my main objectives are to build new benchs for the back rows (all the original seats back there, and possibly the original pilot and copilot seats, are long gone), and to restore that beautiful 50s teal blue. Any advice is much appreciated!

Ya....more pics..... a cool 50's though ! is it alum or fiberglass ??? Looks glass ??? By looks of the old caulk along the deck joint with wood trim, I'd say you might have more then cosmetic issues...early glass & alum boats used considerable amounts of wood that became maintenance issues early on....
looks like it was leaking way back when..... ???

It is a fiberglass. Last time it was on the water there were apparently no leaks. It was a long time ago but its been safely protected from the elements since then, and in all the time it was used I heard no reports of it taking on any water. The wood trim definitely needs replacing, which to me is maybe the most challenging part, getting everything to the correct metrics and getting it to bend correctly. I also was planning on replacing whatever kind of metal those strips are, or at least scraping them and the caulk around it and resealing them and giving them a new finish. Hoping to get new pics up tomorrow morning!

Was talking a bit with some folks and we think the wood trim could possibly be kept as is with some sanding and refinishing. Hopefully thats the case but time will tell.

Finally got the trailer tires filled so I could roll it over and put the motors back, secured and out of the boat itself. Sorry for the dark lighting, only time I could get pics was last night.
Also my family recalled that the name Alexandria was associated with the make or model of the boat, or the distributor or something. Not sure what to make of that but there it is.

Also the replacement back bench my grandpa threw together is broken and sitting in the floor of the boat so thats why thats there lol, not an original part. The front seats might also be replacements but not sure.
