Bought a 1988 Bayliner Ski & Fish package with the Force 125. I tested the trim before I picked it up and it worked. Got it home and nothing but a click from the relay. I tried replacing the brushes but still nothing. The brushes were very short and the commutator is worn so I figured I would swap the motor. Got the new motor from Amazon yesterday (Tiawan). Put the new motor in with al the hassle and still nothing but relay click. What am I missing???? The battery is enough to start the motor, its fully charged providing it uses the same battery, mmm, Any idea would be greatly appreciated..

Ok, The new motor is garbage, tried to hook it up to the battery and it just shorted, bad motor. I was able to fix the old one even though not much left of the commutator its working fine for now.

Check the circuit breaker making sure it is not tripped. The circuit breaker provides power for the motor only and not for the relays. So despite hearing the click from the relay, if the CB is tripped the motor will not get energized.

Here's a diagram:

A click from the relay means it's getting power but that doesn't mean it's good.

The best way to test a relay is using a test light and have someone at the switch.

Thanks for your help guys! I got the old Tilt motor working with new brushes, im amazed that I was able to get the new brushes in and put it back together. I used a couple paper clips bent into hooks to hold the brush wires until the top was over the commutator then slid the clips off, new trick for an old dog... Hwo do I close this post? Also, im having problems with backfire when trying to give it gas and I have opened a new post for it. Thanks again!

No need to close. The fact you concluded the thread it's good to go and becomes a reference for others with the same problem in the future.
