Merc 470 Voltage Reg conversion to Altnernator

Can someone tell me what I should do with the red wire that was originally connected to the voltage regulator>

put a one inch piece of fuel hose over the connector and tape it shut. The Orange wire can be removed by un-wrapping the tape

Thanks Bt, one other question, my alt kit has me connecting the alt positive wire onto the aux starter relay on the battery side.

When you do the conversion you normally remove the harmonic balancer, remove the magnets if damaged and remove the 4 allen head bolts and remove the stator. The output wire is connected to the same post that has the battery cable

Removing the stator was not an option I wanted to tackle. The engine would need to be pulled to remove the harmonic balancer. I just taped of leads for now.

If it was a regulator failure then just cut and tape the yellow wires.If a magnet failure then the harmonic balancer must come off and stator removed
