Dodge Ram 1500 and elecric trailer brakes

I have a 2018 Ram 1500 with the tow package. My Loadmaster trailer has electric brakes. They are not working. Do I need a seperate controller?

Yes, the tow package is a hitch and standard wiring. A brake controller is not included

Chances are the truck is already wired for the controller as a standard connector is generally used.

My 2018 came with the factory brake controller. Lower left of the center switch panel. It is a 295 seperate option.

Unfortunately even if the wires are there you woukd need the dealer to activate the option after plugging in the controller module.
