2002 Mercruiser plastic timing cover seal

I just got a new timing cover (plastic one) for 4.3 v6 vortec mercruiser. It looks like there is a seal already installed n the groove, but the cover came with gasket maker little package. I tied to look at the Seloc manual but it is useless. So, do I need to use the gasket maker with the current cover or not? I also did not open my gasket set from the rebuild kit, there could be still some kind of a gasket for the timing cover. Thank you.

Quite wrong... It's great as a knee-pad, or you can use each page as a paper towel..

Chris, the paper that seloc uses doesnt absorb much so its useless as paper towels too. however it works in a pinch if the toilet paper is missing from the outhouse. they do make good knee pads or fillet boards

the RTV is for the corners like Chris showed from the factory manual.
