My 2000 crownline 202BR backfires @ high rpm. I can only run it @ about 90% throttle around 4K rpms. Anything more than that & it backfires through tbi. If I’m sitting still in the water u can go full throttle without problems until it reaches 4K or so. If I go easy I can walk it up to 4200 but not more. It has 5.7 throttle body injection & bravo 3 duo. Things I’ve done so far

new- cap, rotor, plugs, wires, ignition module.
Boat shop checked timing it was @ 16deg supposed to be @ 8 so they set that ( I think it started a little easier @ 16)

the problem has been been unaffected by any of this. Is my next step a compression & leak down test & would these tell me anything since the problem is only @ high rpm? I’ve been told that it might be a bad valve spring by shade tree mechanic friends.
Thanks

Is that adjustable with TBI?

No. You need to hook up a laptop computer with the diagnostics on to find out why the ECU is setting the mixture lean.

Check your fuel filter, if it's old and dirty it may be restricting flow at higher speeds enough to keep you from topping out.

I couldn’t find a Schraeder valve to test fuel pressure can I “T” in a pressure gauge here? It’s where the main gas line comes into the filter head

The valve will be between the fuel pump outlet and the throttle body inlet, not at the fuel filter. I've been looking for a picture for you, alas, I have failed. :( You may need to get a hold of a tee-piece and put it in the line. Putting a gauge at the point you're indicating in your photo will only tell you how much of a pressure drop you're getting between the tank and the filter. No use to finding the fuel pump pressure.....
