Don’t know anything about those really. Is there anything I can do to look further?

Not without getting into the motor.

I would first say your original question was how to set idle mixer screws. There have been opinions of how to do this. Set the idle as you decide and if it idles acceptable for you, then go boating, have fun.

Now if you want to find out other issues and how to fix them then ask those questions and we can advise on those

A good starting point with the mixture screws most times is 1.5 turns from lightly seated. Either with propane or a vacuum gauge 1/4 turn either way will be the setting. If the timing or dwell is not set right or a worn out distributor or an internal engine problem you will be wasting your time. If you use a vacuum gauge to set the carburetor while idling in the water the readings will be different than on land because of the back pressure of the water.

when you say 1.5 turns is that 3 half turns or 1 whole complete turn and another half?

basically is 2 1/8 complete turns out from seated defiantly to far?

yes, 2-1/8 turns out would be too much. that would indicate that one side may be plugged.

are the bypass slots even on both sides of the throttle plates?

your other thread would indicate that you have gunk in your primary bowl (stuck accelerator pump)

accelerator pump is fully seating now. it was rust under where the lever rotates. i did a rebuild last fall so ill just mess with it more when i get on the water. so it wont be farther out then 1.75 full turns?
