Im rebuilding a 4.3 v6 engine which originally was a chevy blazer s10 engine but changed camshaft, new gaskets, pistons, rings, oild pump, marine pickup screen, timing gear and marine 2bbl intake manifold.as for the distributor, i have an original automotive distributor. I was thinking to change the cap and the rotor with the marine one`but still a bit unsure if this is the only difference. So, can i use the automotive distributor with a marine cap and rotor in a marine engine?thx

pretty much, the only thing you use from the blazer is the short block and heads. everything else comes from the marine side

brass core plugs
stainless MLS head gaskets
marine circulating pump
marine starter
marine dizzy
marine alternator
all marine accessory drive

The marine distributors have screens to prevent fuel vapors from becoming ignited and the advance curve is appropriate for a marine engine. Using an automotive distributor in a marine engine will cause BIG problems. Do not cheap out on the automotive/marine differences.

Being the motor came out of a blazer, the cam and oil pickup would have been the same

Camshaft I got replaced with marine one together with the whole master rebuild kit. The only things are left from the chevy engine are a block, crankshaft, balanced shaft, piston connecting rods and rebuilt heads. Engine was cleaned, magnafluxed, crankshaft polished, cylinders bored 20 over. Got another intake manifold for 4bbl carb instead of tbi original. New flywheel and new balancer. The rest will come from an older 1985 mercruiser from the boat I'm stripping.

It is? Never heard of it...

Chris.....its been referred to as the can-o-ham pump for about 75 years in the hot rod circles if you google it, the first thing that comes up is saginaw power steering pump.
