long or short oil filter 3.0L mercruiser

I'm going to change the oil before putting boat in for storage this winter, my 2006 mercruiser 3.0L has a short filter installed. Is there any harm to install long filter such as mobil m1-302 or equivalent?

None at all.... (by a strange coincidence "none at all" is exactly how much suspicion the ape-descendant, Arthur Dent, had that one of his closest friend was not descended from an ape, but was in fact from a small planet somewhere in the vicinity of Betelgeuse).

Nope. No issues at all except it will hold just a smidge more oil. little under 1/2 quart. so fill it, start and recheck to find your new total amount.
