welcome aboard.

EFI has been around for almost 30 years in boats. what specifically are you working on?

assuming Alpha, based on my assumption, my guess is your lower shift cable needs adjustment or replacing.

its an alpha gen 2 drive. the shift cable is new and adjusted correctly. the issue is when the switch is activated (new switch) it only kills the motor some of the time. when it does the motor comes out of gear nicely, when it doesn't the drive will not come out of gear. I go back and the switch is in the activated position, but the motor does not hesitate.

Then the switch isnt grounding the coil, therefore the switch isnt making contact, therefore go back to the switch and the lower shift cabl adjustment

Agree with above, having recently had to mess with mine. It was getting knocked intermittent at WOT and cutting ignition on 4 cylinders.

your shift cable should not be moving once your in gear let alone at WOT

There is an adjustment procedure for the switch. Did you follow that when you replaced it?

ok let me try to be more clear. i can go to the switch and manually kill the motot 10 times, then on the next time it will not kill it. take the cable out of the picture, the switch is not working all the time. does anybody know if engine RPM'S have anything to do with this? I know on most of them they just ground the coil. however with this moodel it sends the signal to the ecm, not the coil.

If we had a serial number, we'd be able to look up the circuits and all be on the same page....
As I said, did you adjust the switch as per the manual? And yes, an out of adjustment switch will sometimes not activate, even when you press the lever manually.

Agreed....but it was. Causing the shift interrupt switch to activate momentarily.
I’m not the first to see this BT.

That can ONLY happen if the cable is out of adjustment.. Or you have a fault in the remote control....

Hi Chris. The assembly for the throttle mechanism had play in it and also adjusted the actual interruption switch itself by a tiny amount. Between them the problem is solved.
It only did it now and then for first half of season then did it every time at wot. After much head scratching and messing, I disconnected the plug on it and it didn’t happen on a few trial runs. That’s how I knew what it was.
