I was wondering if anyone may know why my propeller stopped rotating at the end of last summer? Or what to look for?

The engine still revs up and has full power, but the propeller doesn't engage in either forward or reverse. When I turn it manually with my hand when in neutral, the prop spins with a clicking sound.

With it getting closer to summer know, I am hoping to tinker with this old thing and get it back in working order.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The rubber hub inside the prop may be slipping.-----Try another prop.-----Have the prop inspected / repaired.----Or get a new prop.------Gear oil in the case is nice and clean.----The gear teeth may have stripped also.-----Did this happen all at once at full throttle ?

It's was working fine, then coming into our cove we have to go slow (in and out of neutral). After being in neutral I put it just into gear and it didn't move. So I put it back into neutral and then back to gear and still nothing. Put the throttle all the way, and it revved up but nothing.

Took it out of the water, and tested it quickly but wasn't engaging forward or reverse.

I do have another prop, so I will give that a try.
