while holding throttle fully open and pushing accelerator pump at its most depressed position i have a .015 gap inbetween pump lever and the throttle lever under the spring. when i move the throttle from fully open to closed the pump doesn't become flush with the cam as seen in youtube video. Will fuel pressure push accelerator pump out making the lever completely flush when hooked back onto boat or is something wrong or lever getting stuck a bit? the concern is after opening than closing the throttle manually (lever not becoming flush) if i push lever back down to become flush i also see accelerator pump back out a bit meaning its not fully expanding when throttle is closed.

pull your carb apart and go thru it.

your accelerator pump is two check valves and a simple spring under the diaphragm. the check valves can get gummed up

so you are saying the accelerator pump is supposed to push lever back to flush without fuel pressure? the only reason i didnt pull apart is i just rebuilt carb last fall.

the spring pushes it back. however if the check valve at the bottom of the bowl is stuck, it wont come back.

pull carb, pull bowl...... and look

if you used the blue gaskets, you can R&R the bowls about a million times without need for new gaskets.

Are you having any stumble issue off idle? If so then it needs adjusted. However, if it accelerates okay, leave it alone. And for reference, Holley and some aftermarket vendors make different curved cams to adjust the entire acceleration curve. So if you can't adjust out any problems, you may need to change the cam for the accelerator pump. JMHO

i did have a stumble/ hesitation when accelerating last year. yet im not sure that was it or not. but i just solved it. he throttle lever that moves the pump was a bit rusty where it rotates. wire brushed it up now the spring can push it back and it fully seats. so ill have to see how the hesitation does this year
