hello im replacing my manifold on an OMC 5.7. here are a few photos of the riser. im wondering if the riser needs replacement aswell. where i question it is it seem like little rust balls down the center where i thought only exhaust should be. saw no rust in manfiold where exhaust flows. its it from being close to the water that that that little rust is forming or is water leaking back into it? or is it safe and reusable?

could it last another season ? or am i risking the engine life

Ayuh,....... Can't answer that question, for 2 reasons,.....

#1,... Ya gotta clean the gasket surfaces to see how much metal is left 'tween the passages,.....

#2,.... I don't have a crystal ball,....

Well with the amount of rust inside, yes you are risking getting water in cyls, the sealing surfaces may not be good enough to seal and keep water on the cooling side. Bad exhaust is one of the top causes of inboard engine failure.
