Can someone enlighten me on what looks to be an option with the exhaust....using an exhaust TUBE vs. Exhaust bellows? The tube looks much more simple to install, what might be pros and cons.

I don't think the make should matter. Just use a clamp.

On my 3.0 I installed the tube because it was easier.
I found I didn't like the extra noise so bought the tool and installed the exhaust bellows.
I often go several hours non stop and found the extra noise tiresome.
I did like the sound of it though, if that makes any sense.

would anyone have a known length to cut off an exhaust bellows to make it fit close to a tube?

does anyone know if its ok to cut off some of the exhaust bellows to allow it to act like an exhaust tube? assume cut off enough so when drive is fully down it mates to flange on bell housing? im looking for opinions as i am ready to start. the bellows came with the kit so id prefer not to have to buy a tube, rather modify the bellows.

Tube I belive is bigger diameter at the end where it slips over bellhousing exhaust tube, so I don't think cutting bellows will work, and yes you don't 'need' anything on the exhaust as it's full of water when stopped. It will be louder with a tube, and even more loud with out anything

Thanks. I understand and see from the TUBE pics, that the end is flaired out a bit, to cover the coupler on the bellk housing end when drive is all the way down. But I think if i cut it to length where it just rest up against the coupler on bell housing, it should be fine when trimmed down and cruising...would you agree to that? Or is there something I am missing from the setup/mechanics?

I mean, you probably don't have to cut it at all and it will redirect some of the exhaust to where it needs to go. But it will still be louder than a tube, and is a pretty half-assed kludge, even by the standards of this site...
And the exhaust tube still attaches to the bellhousing, not the drive. I mean, for $30 and 5 minutes to install, why not just get the tube? You can put everything else back together and put the tube on whenever.

Oh ok, so the tube clamps on the bell housing side with flange up against the exhaust port on the transom side? I thought it was opposite. In any case i see different tube part numbers or is there one tube part# that will fit all Alpha 1 gen 2 drives or is it serial# based? my drive serial:0M406343 if anyone has a good part#?

Oh yeah I'm sorry, you're right. It does attach to the transom side. Can't look up the part numbers atm but I'm not aware of any changes that would warrant 2 designs.. .
