I have a 1973 mc1 165hp gm250ci L6. I just splashed it and found I seem to have a small leak. It seems to be coming from next to the water tube. From what I've found this seems to be for the ujoint bellows. I have a photo circled where it's coming from and a link to a gif of the actual video of my boat. It's kind of chugs out at same rate as exhaust.

there is a hole at 12 and 6 ,both go thru to the main bellow. Either the main bellow is leaking or the water inlet O ring is mis-installed or dis-lodged . Pull the drive for inspection. Being that old ,the bellow is the one without the ridge.

Most times when there is a leak in that area the gimbal housing has a hole in it from galvanic action. That area of the housing is thinnest part. If you raise the drive and push the drive all the way to port, get a small bright flash light and look up in that area, you will probably see the hole.
Or the wood in your transom has deteriorated to the point where the bolts that hold the inner to outer housings cannot keep it tight enough and the water is seeping in under the gimbal housing. The model you have used a cork gasket.
If you really like this boat it is time for some major repair work.

I forgot to mention that the hole that it's coming out of is a bent for the ujoint bellows. I'm guessing the ujoint bellows has a leak. Any thoughts. Very slow leak

Be sure to not shear off the small stainless. “Nails” that retain the pivot shafts that mount the bell housing. Do not try to drive the pivot shafts inward until those “nails “ are out. They must be pulled out first. Sometimes they are bound in from granular expansion and can be really hard to remove. The pivot shafts are internally threaded 1/4” 28 so they can be pulled on.
Plan on a gimbal bearing, drive yoke with related seals and retainer nut, 2 universal joints, shift cable kit & water hose, and of course it is a good time to replace the water pump.
If water sat in the torn bellows over the winter the lip that mounts the bellows may be eroded away. Good luck.

I don't know what "nails" you are refering too are. I undid the drive cable up top. Undid the trim bolts and undid the exhaust bellow on one side and water tube. And cut the u joint bellow that was already torn. Then so ide the drive out. "Made sure foot was front to back" in foward gear. After I got the drive off I took acetylene torch and heated up hinge bolts with 1/2 hex bit. Then removed all bellows and cleaned up and checked bearing for movement. (Had no play). Now to order parts

Bearing has no movement and ujoints seem to be okay just going to hit it with some grease. Boat has never been winterized.( HAWAII) boat hasn't been in water in atleast 10 years. Motor runs like a champ
