Why wont it run right?.. 1056 QD-17 10hp

I cut up a extra flywheel I had to make a timing jig.. best thing I did.. I found my problem.. I also had wires rubbing, what a mess.. I shortened wires from the new coils, they were way to long with no place to put them.. I'll have it running today... still waiting on gear case seals but I'll fire it for a few seconds if it don't kick back, spit and sputter I'll know I fixed it..

btw I have three sets of points the set that came with the motor when I bought it, a new set I bought and a set from a seized up 1961 10hp I have for parts.. the oem points from the 61 are .050 thinner see pic.. I could not get the test light to flash consistently when I was timing it.. A closer look at the points and a noticed them hitting the flywheel.. Nice!!

Started using a light to set points on these motors some 50 years ago.------But it is a " new " technique to some I guess.

Not a " new " technique for me, my eyes are wide open..lol ... I have been at this a long long time.. back in the 90's when I was a line tech at a service station I was the only ase guy that new how to set points.. no one had a clue, bunch of young guys fresh out of school.. I was the old man back then.. just thought I would share this, if it helps one person I'm happy.. Have a great day....
