My Bravo 1 needs bushings where gimbal hinge pins are located. MC calls these Trim sender bushings, which made it difficult for me to find. I kept searching for hinge pin bushings. Nonetheless, how are these bushings installed?

once you have it apart install that missing gearcase fitting too
this section http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Servmanl/11/11b4r5x.pdf

page 4b-6 #3 "bushing" of above www.boatfix. Hinge pin's (covered up by trim sender/limit switches) bearing part goes into this . This bushing is NOT part of steering. And, yes I AGREE it can get confusing with all these bushings. Thx... I could use large C clamp to act as a press. I guess just pick out the old ones with pocket knife?

Page 4B-21 shows you how to remove the bushing and Page 4B-22 & 23 suggest using a press and special tools from Merc to reinstall the bushings.

Bt Doc, On standard hinge pins the bell housing holds the threads for the pins to screw into.

On High Performance hinge pins the bell housing holds a smooth but tight bushing # 23-847637 so the smooth hinge pin can be slide hammered into the smooth bell housing bushing....The high performance gimbal ring doesn't hold a smooth bushing as the ring is sized from merc to fit the H-P smooth hinge pin...(That I recall)...,But the bushings are all the same part numbers 23-847637 that fit into the non threaded H-P bell housing or standard gimbal ring as again the standard bell housing is threaded.

In here see both bell housings item number 1's and hover your mouse cursor over the notes for details then see bushing item number 6 and it's note too..., https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/...30967/1943/180

In here for the H-P ring, see the second set of item number 1 down the list of parts and see items 10 and 11 and notice no bushing item number 3 (23-847637) listed like in the first set of part numbers of item # 1, https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/...30967/1943/170

Manual calls for special too to press in bushing. I should be able to use large c clamp as a press. RTHX!
