For the life of me, I can't put a name to this part...the seating pad cover lid thing over the engine (not the actual engine cover) and above the transom.

I'm getting new wood in mine and have to locate hinges to mount to the pegs still attached to transom, but can't even search them out without knowing what the actual deck lid is called.

In case anyone is able to take helping me even FURTHER, I need to locate those factory hinges for a 1998 Bayliner Capri 1850ls BR.

Thanks, in advance.

Are you talking about the partial Sunbed / Hide Away Soft top Storage.
It can be called a lot of things.

Also the hinges may be found at a boat yard / Salvage. The local marina may have a few part hulls around.
Mine have no hinges and just bolt down.

Well crap, that's kinda what I thought. I had several names for it, too. LOL!
I guess I'll just hunt around and see...frankly, I was thinking it'd be cool to put some pneumatic/hydraulic arms on, anyway, rather than just hinges. I mean, if you lift it all the way up, it'll sit on its own, but I thought it would be cooler to be able to lift partially, too, or at the very least, it'd be more structurally sound with more heft.

you can add actuators to anything.

if you have trim tabs, simply replace your HPU with one that has a hatch cylinder center tap.

BTW, the wood rots on boat upholstery within 10-15 years if exposed to the elements, and 15-20 years if garage kept. yours is 22 years old

If you're looking for hinges, how about a pic of the hinges? Bayliner bought off the shelf hinges from a supplier, they aren't unique or special to Bayliner.

I call it the SunDeck and If you treat your wood seat panels with the Oldtimers Recipe they'll last a very long time
