We all know there is one main gas filter under the fuel pump.
I have read there are other inline (perhaps) gas filters... maybe one in the fuel pump... maybe one by the carb.
I see none. Where exactly are they please. 1996 3.0 L Alpha with electronic ignition..
Engine bogging down on deceleration... falls to stall. Thanks!

Ayuh,..... There's the one in the fuel pump cap, 'n possibly one in the carb's inlet fitting,.....

If you plumb in a canister type w/s filter ahead of the fuel pump, the originals become back-ups which rarely need changin',.....

In-line, in hose filters are pretty useless,....

Also there is probably one hidden in the fuel tank suction tube. That is the one that causes a lot of headaches.

Yep, agree with Scott. If it's running fine 1200 rpm and above then dies when you throttle back to say 1000 and dies, sounds like a classic symptom of dirty low speed jets.

I had the same problem with my 5.7 L cleaned the jets and WALA it runs great.

Fantastic advise thank you all... when you say dirty low speed jets, does the cleaning process mean removing the carb or some kind of seafoam type spray?

* I should also note that the engine idle speed is inconsistant (impossible to set properly) and...
when I slow down from over 2000 and it bogs to a stall, if I start it again it idles just fine (but sometimes 600, sometimes 1000 (not varying between the two, just never know what it is going to settle at) Does this still sound like dirty low speed jets?

Gas-a-hol may have eaten rubber. I suggest getting cheap electrical pump and recycling all gas back into main tank through your canister fuel filter/water separator. Most carbs have a small filter inside main fuel line connector. Gas pick up tube should have one to catch large particles.

I have experienced some success by covering air intake on carburetor with one hand and manually moving it's linkage to force high rpms with other hand. You may be able to create such a suction that will suck all the small jet plugging crap into motor to burn. Be sure that you have fire extinguisher near by.
