Power Tilt/Trim Compatibility

New to the forum. I’m in the research phase of a project to gut and rebuild a 1988 Lund Mr Pike Rebel Special with a 1988 Johnson 40 hp (J40TELCCS). Someone local is selling a power tilt/trim unit...ram, pump, some wiring... but it’s off a 1996. I know the design changed in 1989, but I’m hoping it’s possible to make it fit on my motor. The guy is selling it for a very attractive price.
