Carb electric choke upgrade worth the trouble?

I have a 1970 Sea Ray SRV180 with a mercruiser 120hp/2.5L. I am thinking of converting the iggy to fully electronic distributor (vs a pertronix parts upgrade) and wondered if adding the electric choke kit to my Rochester 2bbl would be better? I dont boat in cold weather, nor do I have trouble starting, but I am getting to the point of needing a carb service/rebuild but nowadays mechanics prefer to replace vs rebuild.

Thoughts? Thank you.

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,....... Convertin' to an electric choke only makes sense when the choke stove is burnt out,.....

On some engine/carbs the old style auto chokes take a long time to open, because the marine engines run cooler than the automotive engines that they are based on. The divorced choke on my old Quadrajet takes a long time to fully open, the electric choke opens much faster. If I repower this boat with a Vortec V6 I will still use the Quadrajet but add the electric choke kit I have sitting in my garage.

If it starts and runs well I'd leave it alone. My electric choke died just set it so lean it never came on. Ran many years just fine in chokeless mode .
