I have a 1995 evinrude 115, ive recently changed the spark plugs to some NGK and si ce that day it will idle and accelerate pretty well outside the water but when is in the water it losses power and accelerates really slow like lazy lazy , and i checked the carbs and the jets and they are pretty clean, i have new fuel pump on my tank nuew fuel line, and i checked compresion and its giving me 115-120 on all 4 cylinders and i dont know what else it could be. I checked the coils and they are all giving spark, i dont know if the spark plugs are the problem or what could be. Please if anyone has an idea i would aprecciate it

What is your model # 2 different 115s made that yr. Or do you know if it's a looper or a crosflow?

How was it running before the spark plug change?

You shouldn't rev the motor up on muffs.

So change the plugs back to champion which is what they should be anyways. Did you put the plug wires on correctly? Revving on muffs doesn't mean a thing!

Sure a bad sparkplug can lead to lost power.-----Model # or are you keeping it a secret ?

This one is the crossflow model, someone told me it could be the compression but i checked and it have me 115-120 , then someone else told me it could be the exhaust clogged but i checked that too and is clean, carbs are super clean, the jets too. All four coils are giving spark , fuel line is new. So i really dont know what else could be. The reason i changed the spark plugs in the first place is because i made a gas oil mix too high on oil so but that day even with the gas mix a little high on oil it ran pretty fast although failing sometimes, so the next day i changed the spark plugs, bought a mix bottle to do it right this time , and i did everything right , it idle perfectly but when it hit the water it would idle well, and when i accelerate it would accelerate but it would move really slow like losing power bogging down or something like that, it did not die it just didnt run even when i give it full throtle it would stay in one continious slow speed

It was running normal before the change

The above quote pertains to the owner having changed the spark plugs.

*FlyingScott replied: "So change the plugs back to champion which is what they should be anyways.* * Did you put the plug wires on correctly? Revving on muffs doesn't mean a thing!"

That just about says it all.

Waiting for Red Foreman's post. :)

Disconnect remote wire and check the throttle operation at the motor, keeping in mind restrictions when running on muffs. The remote cable may need adjustment, or the lever at the shift box is not advancing throttle.

???----All bets are off.-----The roller in that semicircle groove is missing the outer cover.-----There is a spring there that is not factory.-----And who knows what else has been cobbled up.

Turns out it was the spark plugs after all, changed them back to Champion with the right number and it ran like a baby
