Hi guys there’s a threaded hole located underneath the impeller housing. Is a screw suppose to go into it? If so what is this hole for? Some type of drainage? When I got the motor there was not a screw in it. Any help would be great

Is that not one of the 4 screw holes for tightening the pump down ?-----Maybe tomorrow I can have a look at 1 or 3 of those early housings to compare.

????-----Some of feel that the screw hole was drilled through from the top back in 1956.-----I do not understand your comment in post #7----Have you had the lower unit off to look at your water pump impeller ?------If not you need to remove the powerhead.----Then the lower unit to replace the impeller !

i replaced the impeller a while back and there is only 4 bolt holes and all holes have bolts in them to connect the pump to the lower unit . There is not another hole for any screws.

I knew it was true, but I went out and looked at a stripped lower unit anyway. All four pump screw holes are drilled and tapped through from the top. The screws go through the pump and bearing housings from the top and into the holes you are looking at. If you poke something into that hole you will find it is blocked ----by the screw!!!
