I made a mistake and turned her over a few times cold and she diddnt start.... Before long I flooded her. Half hour later i started her up.

runs great. But at idle she is rough now and will stall every few times if I don't accelerate or idle a tad higher...but was great before the flooding. It's a 89 4 3. Fouled plugs??

Also... is there a safety kill switch that won't let the motor start in gear??

Ayuh,..... It could start in gear, but the neutral safety switch, won't allow the starter to turn it over on the key switch,......

The best cure for fouled plugs, is a good Hard run,.....

I don't get how turning the motor over cold is a mistake? How else would you start a cold motor?

Add up everything you said and it sounds to me like you need a carburetor rebuild.

What I meant was between being cold and trying to start it, giving it a tad bit of gas...and then...realized I had something unplugged...so I simple flooded it. Waited and corrected MY error and it startrd.

All I was asking if an engine is flooded FOR WHATEVER reason, is there a routine fix if the flooding caused my rough idle- which did not occur prior to the flooding.

yes stupid me

Rough idle seems a no brainer to kit the carb. Just me. First place I look is a little crud in the idle ports.
