Hello, I am looking to get a set of aluminum props for
my stern drive . I have stainless props on there now
and need to find out how to get the right ones in aluminum.
my rear prop says c6rear , 3587874 , 7e
The front prop is marked c6front , 3587868 , 7e
Where can I cross these over at ?
thanks
Luke

Don't think your going to find aluminum prop sets for a DP, they don't make them for B3 either

the C series is the stainless version of the B series.

you have a C6 set of stainless props. about $1500 for a set.

the B6 set of aluminum props are about $650 a set.

why do you want to step backwards from the C series to the B series?

I’m just looking for an extra set . So are you saying that the B6
should be the direct replacement for my c 6 ? How would performance suffer ?
Thanks

yes, the B6 is the aluminum version of the C6

there may be slight top end difference, however not sure you would notice much.

As far as I know...unless you are going for aftermarket equivalent...VP stopped making the B series and replaced them with the J series.
If you do find a set then going from C to B series needs a little thought around it. The general advice is to go down a number when going from B to C but I’ve yet to hear of someone going from C to B, haha.
must admit...I’ve never known any VP DP original prop fitment from new, to be anything other than spot on with regards to the rpm achieved being utterly right on the money.
Michigan Marine produce the best aftermarket B series equivalent, that I’m aware of. A fraction of the price of the OEM too.

the J series is supposed to combine the A series (diesels with 3 blades on the FWD prop and the 4 blades on teh aft prop) with the B series. its simply a slightly varied blade design on the A series.

as Qbhoy pointed out, its supposed to replace the A series and the B series, however VP still makes them, they still work well, so why change, especially since the J series literature has two errors in it.

However here is some real world experience with an AQ271C warmed over with new heads in front of a DP 290 drive on a 3500# boat - with B5's, my top speed was 46-48mph and the motor hit 4800-5000 RPM. with the B6 props, my top speed was 48-50mph and the motor hit 4500-4700 RPM (all load dependent)

so the best we can do is point out that the B series is the aluminum equivalent of the C series.
