I have a 2005 Glastrom 185sx with a 5.0 GL and Volvo Penta Sx outdrive. I was in havasu last season and hit a sand bar. Caused my motor to stall. After hitting it there was a new vibration. I cant find the problem. I changed the prop, used a dial indicator on the prop shaft, checked the drive shaft and u joint, checked the alignment and checked the oil for metal. Everything was fine. I'm at a loss for what it could be. Vibrates above 25mph. Please help!!!

Hhmmm…. Perhaps check the belts and pulls. A sudden stop could have torqued something up there. Or the driveshaft to the upper to lower got torqued. Also check the input shaft, u-joints.

Yea I would say something in the lower unit like a shaft, bearing or as grub said u-joint or coupler.

U joints are fine. Coupler has no visible damage. Lower unit is quiet. No shavings in the oil. Thinking the problem is somewhere on the engine itself, but the mounts havent moved, not sure what it could be...

You have a bent shaft. Your tests just don't show it.

Been there done that. The dealer swore that all was OK by his tests, but when the drive shaft was replaced the vibration went away.

Sounds like a bent shaft. Maybe it didn't show on indicator, but pretty certain that is what it is.

pull the upper off the leg.....look at the splines. its most likely the vertical shaft in the lower...... and the shaft is twisted/bent

or the prop shaft is bent between the two bearings in the casting.

another thing to look at is the harmonic damper on the front of the crank. did the elastomer shear?
