2007 volvo 4.3 GL-G - Power Steering Issues

Getting some noise that I think is the power steering pump. I've added fluid and I believe it quieted down. The fluid is foaming also. I've worked the steering back and forth to work out the air but no luck. Anyone seen this before.

Would that cause the pump to make noise? It seems to be creating a vacuum when I take the cover off I can hear it release.

Yes, but is probably more like building pressure. Is fluid level correct or are you loosing any, having to add some?

It's indicating full on the dip stick. When this started it would whine some and then when I added fluid it still whined but only after warming up longer.

Just guessing, but from what your saying the pump is going. If you can steer without difficulty then it will go for a bit longer but unknown how long. When it does go, you will be able to steer but it will be much harder

I'm getting a chirpy grinding sound when it builds up pressure. It's not constant. It comes and goes. Steering seems fine. Does anyone know the GM equivalent part number for the pump?

I don't but maybe someone else does, just have not looked into them

The GM is just the regular saginaw power steering pump. See if the pump is just the GM pump, and if so its held in place by the pressure regulator valve.

If this is the case, remove the pump and pick one up at the auto store, just reuse the old valve and not use the new one
