I’ve got a new to me 2012 Glastron GT205 w/ a 4.3 MPI. It started making this noise my second day out on the water. Any ideas what it could be...?

Nothing normal about a noise like that. Sounds like it is broken :D

Agree with the fuel pump. Can you more precisely isolate the location of the noise?

The noise is more definitive towards the bottom of the engine block toward the hull of the boat. It’s hard to tell but I feel like it’s also a bit louder on the starboard side.

My boat is still under warranty from the dealer for about another week. Is there anything that I may have done in during my few days on the lake that could have affected the fuel pump? If you were in my shoes, would you take back to the dealer?

Contact the dealer right away and report the problem, have them make a work order or an appointment as of today, so it is on record within the warranty period.

No need to worry about what you did/didn't do, but put on a poker face if you have to . . .

I'd be running back to that dealer as fast as I could, if you need some motivation just check the parts prices for some of these modern wonders, the electric fuel pumps/cool fuel modules are pricey and some are in a horrible spot for maintenance. Hope they changed that! I recall seeing the guy who works at our local boat yard working on a boat that needed a new one and let's just say in the 90 degree heat he was not a happy camper. And $400 for the part.

The first noise is the fuel pump...the other noise when it’s running may be too...or the power steering perhaps. Strange looking thing that 4.3. Like the old mpi but with the 4.5 exhausts.

Quick update. I showed the video to my boat dealer and they arranged to pick up my Glastron to have it fixed under warrantee. I agree with all above on the noise being the fuel pump. Another hint may be that the noise doesn’t change pitch with engine RPM once underway.

I will follow up with more detail when I hear back from my Service Department.

Thanks for weighing in. Fair weather and good health to all!
