Good afternoon everyone, I’m new to this site and was wondering if you could help me out!

I have a 2000 Mercruiser 4.3L V6. I’ve spent all spring so far rebuilding the exhausts along with the laundry list of unwinterizing tasks.

The other day I loaded in my boat, drove it 10 minutes to the marina and I haven’t been able to leave since! After countless repairs and trials, a new issue popped up!

I believe it is my water distributor. It has a slow leak at the bolt right near one of the hoses. I tried to tighten it, but it still leaks. I can’t see any cracks, and am hoping I don’t have to replace the whole unit.

Any ideas?

i have attached some pictures and a video of the engine for reference. The serial number on the part is 863444-A1.

thanks!

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,....... I gave ya a thread of yer own, We frown upon hy-jackin' 4 year old threads,......

I'd clean it up, 'n slather it with epoxy,...... Ya might get a few years out of it,.......

I believe Bt Doctur figured out a work-around for that troublesome set up,......

I have a fully assembled 120 vintage early 80s. I have some noise that seemed to be from the rocker assembly. I removed the valve cover and the tension seems to vary. One rocker arm seems tight, the rest can be wiggled. Is there any safe adjustment to be made (if needed) when the engine is fully assembled? Thanks in advance.

Re: mercruiser mcm 120 torque specs

Here is a scan from Mercruiser service manual #3.
Rocker arms are NOT torqued on the 120's, so you might want to throw whatever manual you are using away and get the real thing. The OEM manual calls for 1 turn from Zero lash.

Depending on where each lobe is in its rotation, some will be loose and some will be tight.
On my 5.7 I've adjusted my rockers after I replaced 1 head with the motor running and the covers off on a warmed up motor.

So I came back to the boat this morning, fired her back up as normal, and the same leak was there!

Did you epoxy it and what kind did you use? Did you partially clean it up really well beforehand?

I’ve tried and tried, epoxy after epoxy. Still leaking! I’m beginning to think it is cracked and needs to be replaced.

does anyone have any good videos for help?
can I leave it in the water when I do this repair?

thanks for the help and advice!
