Mercrusier alpha one gen 1. New impeller, no water flow

Mercrusier 5.0 I/O alpha one gen 1. New to owning a boat. Bought a fixer upper. Got it running with muffs on and was not getting water out of exhaust. Installed new impeller still not getting water flow and no water at thermostat inlet. With lower unit off, placed hose in inlet at thermostat had good water flow coming out lower unit. Replaced impeller again along with new pump housing and still not getting water flow please help. Thanks in advance

By chance miss putting the key in that locks the impeller to the shaft?

Yes feeding it with hose and muffs.. I made sure that the key was on there

Send a pic of your muffs and how they fit on the drive. Some of them are just terrible and don’t work.

Possible that the water pipe going to the gear housing isn't aligned properly. Also any air entering the system (a melted water pocket cover in the upper for example) can cause flow issues. Assuming your impeller is installed correctly

See if you can get the flatter and tighter fitting ones. I didn’t have too much luck with a set like yours years ago either.

That's why I don't have water flow it wasn't turning the impeller
