Sorry if you have mentioned already, but have you tried running it off a fuel can ? To bypass and rule out the fuel tank pick up and check valve after it (if fitted).

No actually I haven’t run it off a gas can yet. I am planning on trying that hopefully Monday.

OK so I took it out this morning for a test run. I’m starting to think it’s the fuel pump. Seemed to run a lot better but still not great

At idle the low pressure pump was at 8 psi at 3500-3800 rpms it went to zero, But ran for a few minutes then the HP pump went below ten and the boat stalled out. Also the HP was fluttering the gauge around 28-32 not a steady 30 when it died. After letting it sit for a min and turning back on the HP was making a louder than usual humming noise.

Also water was pretty calm not a lot of bouncing around

That is the “quick and dirty” way of doing it. Volvo lists a way in their service manual that uses a T, some clear line and a quality vacuum gauge that is better.

Haven’t taken it out yet but pulled the fuel pump today and this debris came out of the vst and I believe it came from the return line port opening(pic1-left)

The second pic(right) is what came out of the filter separator.

Ok took it out again this morning. Success!! Decided to replace the fuel pump ($525 from mancavemechanic.com) last Monday received it Wednesday, replaced it and she’s running great all the way up to wot. Thanks for all the help from everyone in fixing this issue, it’s greatly appreciated!!

Great!
But have you tested the boat fuel system to make sure that isn’t why the pump failed in the first place?
Is it possible that a new fuel pump will be able to overcome a bad supply for awhile until it fails again?
