I have a 1998 sea ray 210 bow rider with a 5.0 mercruiser efi v8. I started noticing that the boat was starting to bog down under load while I was tubing some friends. An hour or so of riding it started to get worse and started losing power until eventually it wouldn’t get over 1,500 rpm. At first I thought I may have gotten some water in my fuel filter so I took it off and dumped it out. After putting it back on I primed it back up and the boat crunk up. As it was idling I noticed it was still running rough so I eased into the throttle and it began to bog down again under load. If I throttled up in neutral it would run fine, but as soon as it was under load it would bog down. I limped it back to the boat dock and eventually it shut off and I couldn’t get it to stay cranked. After I got it to the shop I emptied all the gas and put a new fuel filter on it, thinking I had some bad gas. Once I filled it up with fresh gas and a new filter I went back to the lake to see if the problem was fixed. I rode it around for a few minutes not wanting to go far from the boat dock and it was running better but once I opened the throttle on up it started to bog again. I noticed the more I rode it the worse it got with bogging down and misfiring, so I assumed it was my fuel pump starting to give out. I got back and put a new fuel pump in it and took it out again and it started out driving fine, but about 10-20 minutes in it started bogging down and misfiring again. I’ve seen where it could possibly be my ICM going bad, but they are about $500. I was wondering if it could be any other issues before I spend the money on it?
