Mercruiser Alpha One 3.0 cranks but no fire

I have a that can crank over but has no spark. Only 5v at the pos terminal of the ignition coil. I have 12v at the stater and at the red wire on the solenoid or relay. The on that is not attached to the stater. Coil and distributor components have be replaced and the starter is only a year old.

Its a Merc but what serial number or at least a year

my guess is you have points and you need to service them

did you file them? what did you gap them to? what was the dwell when you checked? did you also replace the condenser?

Turn the engine until the points are open. Then take a wire and from the coil negative and touch it to ground. Get a spark? Your points need cleaning. No spark, you have a power problem. Check voltage at the key switch and at the coil positive.
