Hello all, I have a VJ60TLESM. It runs relatively well though I had a bit of trouble over the weekend. I was “plowing” through (not trolling, not on plane) a choke point on my lake. The motor bogged down and would not power back up. Same with choke in neutral, I could not get the revs above 1500ish without the motor bogging completely. It would idle and troll fine. Of I shut the motor off for a short time it would fire back up and run without issue, this problem only occurred when I was plowing. From what i’ve read, about others with a similar issue, it seems to me like an overheat issue.

I don’t know much about the VRO delete but do know it has been done to this motor. There was a wire sheered sitting in the splash well, pic attached. It looks like that was overtemp sensor. It is a twon conductor black cable connected to frame ground and brown wire (no stripe) Should that not be connected or is it a reference to VRO temp only?

I was reading in another thread about cooling system service bulletins, tell tale relocation, etc. What is the best resource to find the service bulletins? I am looking to purchase a manual for this motor as well. It is in great shape and I want to keep it that way.

Does the tell tale come off the side of the block or the top ?----Do those wires lead to the oil tank ( if still in the boat )

Looks like a much better path for the tell tale would be to go down then over to the corner rather than across the top
like that, are there heat issues as far as melting the tube if I were to go straight down?

It looks like the brown wire ends up in the open ended plug I am pointing at in the second pic. I am assuming that was for the VRO? That unit is long gone.

Not sure what a choke point in the lake involves, but if shallow water you might check to be sure the intake in the l.u. isn't clogged with mud or weeds.

No clogs to speak of. By choke point I mean a narrows, lots of
people - etc. Slow driving area.

Maybe the black wires are for a trim gauge ?-----You have to look and trace.----I can not see / touch your boat.----What other trouble shooting has been done if any ?---If you suspect overheating you should replace impeller .----Do a compression test as well.
